An established presence in Southern California health care, John M. Kennedy, MD, has focused on cardiovascular disease for much of his career. Utilizing the latest app-based technologies, John M. Kennedy, MD, has created the BREATHE technique as a guided seven-step way of reducing stress in the workplace.

In early 2019, Dr. Kennedy worked with 29 physicians at a multi-specialty medical group in the United Arab Emirates to test out the platform in actual working conditions. The setting of a busy medical practice was selected as representative of the type of high-stress environment in which stress and heart health issues often become a major issue for employees.
In utilizing the BREATHE technique, which employs a combination of guided imagery and controlled breathing, participants were prompted before and after to record their heartbeat. Over a 30-day period of regular use, the outcomes were consistent and statistically significant. On average, heart rates fell from a baseline of 70 beats per minute to 65 beats per minute after use of the app-based stress reduction platform.
